Many of our new customers, especially those with expensive classic or luxury cars, say, before they found VT MOBILE AUTO DETAILING / TWIN STATE TINTING they just didn't feel comfortable having just anyone detail their vehicle. We AGREE wholeheartedly. You should NOT trust your vehicle -- your asset -- to anyone with a sponge and a Craigslist Ad ( disclaimer: we get lots of business from our ad on Craigslist -- but you get the idea ).
Over the next few days, the experts here at VT MOBILE AUTO DETAILING/ TWIN STATE TINTING, will be posting "10 Tips EVERY Professional Auto Detailer Should Know"
(*If your current car care pro isnt aware of these tips -- it may be time to find a new one.
Here's the first 2 tips:
1) Hand Washing Is The BEST WAY to Wash a Car
While a power washer would seem like the best tool for the job - most often, its not. Pressure washers with 700 psi or more, can damage your vehicle, ripping up pinstriping & scratched paint. We use soft brushes and sponges to clean & scrub the exterior and firmer brushes for wheels & tires. As we're hand-washing, we're also identifying areas of the body, wheels, plastic etc. that need special attention. You can't gather this intel by blasting away, 5 feet from the car. ( * We do use a pressure washer for wheels, tires etc. and for commercial fleets, boats and other heavy duty applications)
2) Clean Windows Last & Use a Cleaner/Repellant On Front/Rear Windshields
Windows (inside & out) may get dusty, greasy & dirty from cleaning the vinyl, waxing & buffing the body etc., so we always polish windows & mirrors last. Also, a glass cleaner (foam or liquid) is just that -- a cleaner --- whereas a repellant like RainX both cleans & REPELS rain & melting snow & ice by causing it to bead up & drain away. As a result, drivers have better vision for longer periods of time. We use RainX on the front & rear windows -- and, prefer a foaming glass cleaner for other windows & mirrors. To remove cleaner we use a clean, dry microfiber towels -- and never mix towels used for buffing wax, restoring or any other purpose -- even after they've been washed. Washing doesn't always remove waxy or greasy residues so we have a color coding system. Blue towels are ONLY for glass/mirrors.
